| I enjoyed their cameo-like proportions and well chosen tempos; and also the way each protagonist listened intently to one another, and enlivened requisite details in their unfolding dialogue. -Harris Goldsmith, The New York Concert Review [The Harrington String Quartet] gave aural evidence of an ideal chemsitry. "The Harrington String Quartet members bring stellar credentials and solid ensemble. In the Beethoven quartet (Op. 59, No. 1) that closed the program, they proved a strong purveyor of the classics as well, displaying a robust sound, a wide and colorful sonic palette, and nicely shaped phrases that stop just short of exaggeration. The Harrington String Quartet gave consistently bold, suave performances. This quartet is comprised of four excellent instrumentalists who perform with warmth, sincerity, temperament, beautiful sound, and at a high technical level. "The concert was a great success! I was amazed at their energy this was the first time we've heard a quartet with a wide sound spectrum and the hall responds wonderfully to it. I hope we can have them again as they are personally and musically such a pleasure. The Harrington String Quartet gave us an adventurous program and real musicianship. |
