Emmanuel Lopez

Currently on the faculty at West Texas A&M University, cellist Emmanuel Lopez is originally from Santiago, Chile. He is the 1988 winner of Janos Starker-Aldo Parisot International Cello Competition in Brazil. He has been a member of the Craftsbury Chamber Players since 1989 and has performed recitals throughout South America, the United States, Canada, France, and Israel. His recordings for the Delos label include Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations and as a member of the Yale Cellos. As cellist of the Harrington String Quartet, he has recorded music by Martin Bresnick for the CRI label. He has also been featured in the Naxos label production of Samuel Jones: Roundings, as principal cellist of the Amarillo Symphony and in Jones Cello Sonata with pianist Denise Parr-Scanlin. He has been a guest soloist at both the Third and Sixth American Cello Congresses as well as a participant in the Piatigorsky and Schneider Seminars.
